CARAMEL PIE 
1 c. milk
1 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. butter
2 eggs
3 tbsp. cornstarch
1 prepared pie shell, baked

Heat milk, sugar and butter. Separate egg yolks from the whites, reserve whites. Mix cornstarch with egg yolks, thin with a little milk and add to first mixture. Cook until thick. Put into a baked pie shell. Cover with meringue topping.

Meringue Topping:

2 egg whites
4 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar

Beat egg whites until foamy, add sugar, a little at a time and cream of tartar; continue beating until mixture stands in peaks. Pile lightly on hot filling.
