1 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 c. shortening 1 c. chopped fig, dates or raisins 1/2 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 c. chopped nuts 2 eggs 2/3 c. sour milk 1 1/2 c. rolled oats 2 c. cake flour 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/2 tsp. salt Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, beat thoroughly. Sift flour, measure and sift baking powder, baking soda, salt and spices. Add rolled oats, add alternately with milk to first mixture. Add nuts and fruit, mix thoroughly. Drop by teaspoons onto well-oiled baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for about 12 minutes. Serves 50. |
