VIENNA BARS 
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar, divided
2 egg yolks
2 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 jar (10 oz.) jelly raspberry or strawberry is excellent
4 egg whites
2 c. chopped nuts

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and 1/2 cup of sugar. Beat in egg yolks. Add flour and salt. Mix together with your fingers. Pat out onto a jelly roll pan (12 x 15 inch). Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Remove from oven and spread with jelly.

Beat egg whites until stiff. Beat in remaining 1 cup sugar a little at a time. Spread on top of jelly and sprinkle with nuts. Return to the oven and bake 25 minutes longer. Cut while warm. 3-4 dozen depending on size.
