WISCONSIN APPLE TORTE 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. whole wheat flour
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. sliced, peeled apples (macs or duchess)

Half white and half brown sugar.

Cream butter and sugar, stir in vanilla, then flour. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9" springform pan.

In a separate bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, egg and vanilla. Pour this mixture over the crust.

Mix the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add apple slices as they are cut up. Arrange apple slices on top of the filling. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes, then at 375 degrees for 25 minutes. Remove from oven and pour the leftover apple juices on top of the torte. Cool before removing the springform.
