APPLE TORTE WITH CARAMEL SAUCE 
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix together and add 3 cups fine cut apples, 2 tablespoons hot tap water, 1/2 cup nuts. Bake in 9-inch pan 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

SAUCE:

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. cream
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar

Mix and heat to boiling (burns easily). Serve warm over cake and top with whipped cream.
