GOOD OLD FASHIONED HICKORY NUT CAKE | |
1 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. butter 1 c. milk 2 eggs, separated 2 1/2 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. almond or vanilla flavoring 4 level tsp. baking powder 1 lg. c. hickory nuts, chopped Mix the butter and 1 cup sugar until it is a white cream. Add egg yolks and mix. Sift flour with the baking powder and add alternately with milk. Add flavoring and nuts. Beat the egg whites stiff, adding the 1/2 cup sugar and add to the batter. Bake in layers or loaf pan in a 350 degree oven. 1 c. sugar 1 c. chopped hickory nuts 1 c. cream Boil together until it forms a ball when tested in cold water. Cool a little and beat until thick enough to spread on cake. |
