SLICED BEEF WITH ASPARAGUS 
Flank steak or sirloin (2 lbs.)
2 c. soy sauce
2 tsp. crystal sugar
3 tbsp. mayonnaise
Garlic slices
2 pieces star anise
2 cans asparagus

Rinse the beef and remove any fat. Heat pan and add 3 tablespoons oil until hot. Add beef and fry over high heat until part of the beef is golden. Add soy sauce, anise and sugar, cover beef with water and cover the pan. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 90 minutes or until beef is tender. Remove the beef, cool it, slice it and move it to a serving plate. Put serving plate in refrigerator for about 20 minutes (optional). Put white asparagus onto serving plate. Spread mayonnaise over sliced beef and asparagus.
