COCONUT CHEWS 
3/4 c. shortening (1/2 c. if using butter)
3/4 c. powdered sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
2 eggs
1 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. coconut
Orange-Lemon Icing

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Cream shortening and powdered sugar. Blend in 1 1/2 cups flour. Press mixture in bottom of ungreased baking pan, 13 x 9 inch. Bake 12-15 minutes. Mix remaining ingredients; spread over hot baked layer. Bake 20 minutes longer. While warm, spread with Orange-Lemon Icing. Cool, cut into bars, about 3 x 1 inch.

Orange-Lemon Icing: Mix 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons butter, melted, 3 tablespoons orange juice and 1 tablespoon lemon juice until smooth. Spread on warm coconut chews.
