OLD TIME PRALINES 
1 c. light brown sugar, packed
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. corn syrup (Karo)
2/3 c. evaporated milk
3 tbsp. butter
1/4 tsp. maple flavoring
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 c. chopped pecans

In heavy saucepan, cook first four ingredients on medium heat, stirring frequently, to soft ball stage (test by dropping a few drops in cold water). When soft ball stage is reached, remove from heat. Add remaining ingredients and beat with a wooden spoon until it thickens and begins to hold its shape. Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Yield: 24 medium size pralines.
