CHOCOLATE NUT BARS 
1 c. (2 - 1/4 lb. sticks) butter
1 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lg. or extra lg. egg
2 c. flour (stir to aerate before measuring)
1 pkg. (6 oz. or 1 c.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces
3/4 c. chopped (med.-coarse) nuts

Butter a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. In a large mixing bowl cream butter, brown sugar and vanilla. Thoroughly beat in egg.

Gradually stir in flour until combined. With a small metal spatula spread in pan. Bake in PREHEATED 350 degree oven for 25 minutes.

Remove from oven AT ONCE. Sprinkle with chocolate, allow to melt - about 5 minutes. Spread evenly, sprinkle with nuts - lightly pressing them down. Cool until chocolate sets. Cut into bars. Store tightly covered in a cool place.
