MOM'S CRISPY CUCUMBER SLICES | |
4 qts. med. sized cucumbers 6 med. white onions, sliced 1/3 c. salt 5 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. tumeric 2 tsp. celery seed 2 tbsp. mustard seed 3 c. vinegar Slice the cucumbers very thin. Do not pare them. Add onions and salt. Cover with cracked ice and mix thoroughly. Let stand in a cool place for 3 hours. Drain thoroughly. Combine remaining ingredients with cucumbers and heat to boiling. Remove them from heat at once and seal in hot sterilized jars. Makes 4 pints. |
