CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1/4 c. cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped walnuts (optional)

In a large bowl, beat sugar and shortening until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla; beat until creamy. Add flour, cocoa and baking soda gradually; mixing well. Once mixed well, add chocolate chips and walnuts.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spoon drop batter onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Makes 2-4 dozen cookies depending on size of dough dropped onto sheets.

Hints: Works very well as a pan cookie. Spread dough out onto 2 cookie trays and bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until center is cooked. This recipe does use less sugar than normal cookie recipes and needs no salt.
