GENERAL TSAO'S SAUCE | |
I have worked on this recipe for quite a while. It is now almost identical to local restaurants. Hope you enjoy. 3 tbsp. cornstarch 1/4 cup water 1 tsp. minced garlic 1/2 tsp. dried ginger 1/2 cup white sugar 2 tbsp. lite soy sauce 2 tbsp. white wine vinegar 1 1/2 tbsp. ketchup 1/8 tsp. cayenne (or to taste) In medium bowl, combine cornstarch and water (I use a small whisk). Add garlic, ginger, sugar, soy sauce and white wine vinegar. Blend. Add ketchup, blend again. Heat mixture slowly over medium heat until sugar and ketchup are incorporated. Remove from heat. Add the 1/8 teaspoon cayenne, blend, taste and continue adding more and adjusting to your taste level. I usually end up just shy of 1/4 teaspoon. Submitted by: Phyllis Chittum |
