CHOCOLATE DROP COOKIES 
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. rolled oats
1 c. light brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 sq. (2 oz.) unsweetened chocolate
1 c. shredded moist coconut, optional

Sift flour and measure. Add baking soda. Cream shortening and sugar together thoroughly. Add egg and chocolate, mix until smooth. Add dry ingredients to mixture. Add vanilla and coconut; mix until well blended. Drop by teaspoonsful onto greased baking sheet; press each down with back of fork. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 12 minutes. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
