LOLA'S YULE CAKE | |
1 1/2 c. Brazil nuts, whole 1 1/2 c. walnut halves 1 pkg. (7 1/2 oz.) pitted whole dates 1 pkg. green candied cherries 1 pkg. red candied cherries 3/4 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking powder 3/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 3 eggs In large bowl. Mix fruits and nuts. In second bowl mix flour, salt and baking powder. In third bowl beat eggs add sugar, beat well. Add vanilla, then the flour mixture. When well mixed pour over fruits and nuts. Mix well, pour into well buttered pan (round ring is very pretty) and press with spoon to pack well. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. No longer! Be careful not to overcook. Let cool in pan 10 to 15 minutes. Turn out and let cool completely on rack right side up. This very good and served on a silver tray or pretty dish is a lovely presentation. |
