BAKLAVA 
1/2 pkg. fillo dough
2 1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water

Divide dough into quarters. In baking dish put a layer of dough, sprinkle 1/3 of walnuts over, top with layer of dough and repeat until all dough and walnuts are used. Use a knife to cut into diamond shapes. Grate hard butter over dough and bake in 350 degree oven until cookies are light brown (about 40 minutes).

Remove and let cool 15 minutes. Boil water. Add sugar and mix until thick syrup is formed. Pour hot syrup immediately over cookies, using a spoon. Serve as a dessert or snack, with semi-sweet Turkish coffee.
