AU GRATIN POTATOES 
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. milk
1 c. shredded American or cheddar cheese
1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
5 c. (5 med.) peeled, sliced raw potatoes
1 tbsp. butter, melted
1/4 c. dry bread crumbs

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In medium pan, melt butter, stir in flour and salt. Add milk, cook until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly. Stir in cheeses and potatoes. Pour into 2 quart casserole. Combine crumbs with melted butter, sprinkle over potatoes. Bake, covered at 350 degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until bubbly. Garnish with chopped chives if desired. 6 servings.
