BLACK WALNUT POUND CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 c. oil
4 beaten eggs
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. chopped black walnuts
2 tsp. black walnut flavoring

Combine sugar, oil, and eggs. Beat well. Combine dry ingredients. Add to sugar mixture alternately with buttermilk; beat well. Add flavoring. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 5 minutes in a well greased and floured tube pan. Pour hot syrup (recipe below) over hot cake. Allow cake to remain in pan while wrapped in heavy towel for 4 hours.

SYRUP:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring

Heat to boiling and boil for 1 minute. Pour over hot cake.
