BUTTERED CROUTONS 
10 slices bread
1/2 c. butter, melted

Heat oven to 300 degrees. Trim crusts from bread; cut slices into 1/2 inch cubes. Spread cubes in 15 x 10 inch jelly roll pan. Drizzle butter over cubes; toss to coat. Bake at 300 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until dry, crisp and golden brown, stirring occasionally. Store covered in refrigerator. 4 cups.

FOR HERB CROUTONS: Add 2 teaspoons basil leaves to butter.

FOR GARLIC CROUTONS: Add 2 cloves crushed garlic to butter or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder.
