BARBARA'S TOFFEE 
1 c. white sugar
2 sticks butter, never butter
1 pkg. sliced almonds
1 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Grease sides and bottom of 7x13 inch cake pan with butter, scatter almonds in bottom.

Heat butter in heavy saucepan. Add cup of sugar, mix and bring to boil. Continue to stir until mixture is the color of brown sugar -not too dark. Then pour over almonds. Carefully spread toffee.

Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot toffee mixture. Allow to sit 1 to 2 minutes until you can see chips melting. Then take a spatula and spread chocolate over toffee. Put pan into refrigerator until set. Then break up and enjoy.
