HUSH PUPPIES 
2 c. cornmeal
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. sweet milk
1/2 c. water
1 lg. onion, chopped fine

Sift dry ingredients and add milk and water. Stir in chopped onion. Add more milk as may be needed to form workable dough. Mold pieces of dough into pones (about 5" long, 3" wide and 3/4" thick). Fry in deep hot fat or oil until browned.
