PRALINE SWEET POTATO OR PUMPKIN
PIE
 
1/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. light brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. ground ginger
3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/16 tsp. ground cloves
1 c. cooked, mashed sweet potatoes or pumpkin
2 lg. eggs, well beaten
3/4 c. hot milk
1/2 c. light brown sugar
1/4 c. soft butter
3/4 c. pecans, chopped med. fine

Prepare pie shell and set aside. Combine next 7 ingredients in a mixing bowl. Blend in sweet potatoes (or pumpkin) and eggs. Stir in hot milk. Pour into the unbaked pie shell. Bake 25 minutes in a preheated moderate oven (375 degrees).

In the meantime, blend the 1/2 cup brown sugar with butter and pecans. Sprinkle over partially baked pie. Continue baking 30 minutes or until filling is firm in the center. Serve cold with whipped cream, if desired.
