SNICKER DOODLES 
1 c. soft shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix together thoroughly shortening, sugar and eggs. Sift together and stir in flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Chill dough. Roll into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon.

Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake until slightly browned, but still soft. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen 2 inch cookies.
