1 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/2 c. flour
Optional: 1/2 c. pecan pieces

Mix first 5 ingredients until well blended. Add flour, blend well. Drop by teaspoon full on greased (or spray with Pam) cookie sheet. Flatten with bottom of glass. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until edge is browned.
