MAMMY'S APPLE CAKE 
2 sticks butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 1/4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
4 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
4 (3") apples (Granny Smith or Rome Beauty), peeled & sliced
Fruit Choices: For blueberries sprinkle on top. For apples & peaches roll sliced (not too thin) in sugar and cinnamon

Cream butter well; add sugar and mix well. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each egg. Add dry ingredients gradually; mix well. Spread batter onto a well greased and floured pan (10x14 inch) or three 8 inch cake pans. Add desired fruit softly on top. Bake in moderate oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
