LAZY DAY SUMMER SPONGE CAKE 
1 cup milk
1/4 cup butter
1 3/4 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder

Scald milk, butter. Set aside to cool. Sift flour and baking powder together. Beat sugar, eggs and vanilla 1-1/2 minutes. Add flour mixture, beat 1-1/2 minutes.

Bake in a 9x13-inch pan for 30-35 minutes at 350°F. Cool.

Frost, if desired, or serve with fruit and cream.
