HOLIDAY SPICED PRUNES 
1 (1 lb.) box prunes, dried
1/2 c. liquid from boiling prunes
3/4 c. white sugar
1/2 heaping tsp. cinnamon
1/8 scant tsp. cloves
1/8 scant tsp. allspice
1/2 c. coarsely chopped walnuts

Cook prunes per instructions on box, until tender. Cool and remove pits. Combine sugar, liquid and spices. Cook on low heat until syrupy, maybe 10-15 minutes.

Pour over prunes and mix lightly, being careful not to further mash prunes. Refrigerate covered. Add nuts about 1 hour before serving. Can be made several days ahead.
