SPANISH BUN CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
1 c. sour milk (or 1/2 c. sour cream and 1/2 c. buttermilk) or milk
1 tbsp. light molasses
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 egg whites

RAISIN FILLING:

1 c. raisins, chopped fine
Yolks of 2 eggs
1/2 c. cold water
3 tbsp. powdered sugar
1 tbsp. flour

Cream butter and sugar, add rest of ingredients and blend EXCEPT EGG WHITES. Beat egg whites until peaks form. Fold into cake batter. Divide batter into two 8-inch round greased cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

FILLING: Mix all ingredients and cook until it thickens and add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Spread between layers. Needs no frosting but top may be sprinkled with powdered sugar or make icing of 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup half & half or milk. Heat until it comes to a boil, add enough powdered sugar to spread.
