SPAGHETTI SAUCE | |
2 lbs. ground beef 1 med. onion, finely chopped 1 green pepper, finely chopped 2 (15 oz.) cans tomato sauce 2 (12 oz.) cans tomato paste 2 (1 1/2 oz.) env. Italian style spaghetti sauce with mushrooms 3 c. water 1 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. oregano leaves 2 cloves garlic, crushed or equivalent garlic powder 1 or 2 bay leaves, crumbled Cook and stir ground beef, onion and green pepper until meat is brown and onion is tender. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover; simmer 1 1/2 hours, stirring sauce occasionally. Serve over spaghetti with Parmesan cheese or use in your favorite lasagne recipe. Tastes even better heated up the next day. |
