SAUERBRATTEN 
4 lb. rump roast
Salt
Flour
2 tbsp. shortening
2 onions
.5 c. vinegar
1 c. water
2 tbsp. lemon juice
3 bay leaves
3 whole cloves
2 tsp. salt
.25 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. ketchup
6 gingersnaps

Brown salted, flour roast in shortening. Add next 9 ingredients. Cook 2 1/2 to 3 hours until tender. Add gingersnaps last 30 minutes.
