"GRANNY'S" APPLE PIE 
Pastry for a 9-inch double crust pie
6 lg. Granny Smith apples, pared, cored and sliced 1/4 inch thick
3/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
Dash of salt
Dash of nutmeg
2 tbsp. butter

Pare, core and slice Granny Smith apples into a large bowl. Blend sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt together and mix with sliced apples. Line a 9-inch pie plate with pastry dough and fill with apple mixture. Dot with butter. Adjust top crust and seal tightly. Brush melted butter over top crust, sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar and cut 4 (1 inch) slits in top crust to let steam escape. Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Serve at room temperature with your favorite topping, ice cream, whipped topping, cheese, or just as is!
