ITALIAN TOMATO SAUCE 
1/3 c. butter
1 onion, finely chopped
3/4 tsp. salt
Few grains pepper
1 sm. can tomato paste
2 c. water
2/3 lb. lean beef, cut in small pieces
Italian seasoning to taste

Cook butter, onion, salt and pepper 8 minutes. Add tomato paste, water and beef. Cook very slowly 1 1/2 hours. Remove meat before serving, if desired.
