GRAM'S PAVLOVA 
4 egg whites
8 oz. fine sugar
1 tsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. white vinegar
2 c. fresh cut up fruit or canned fruit, well drained
2 c. Cool Whip or whipped cream

Heat oven to 300 degrees. Then turn down to 275 degrees. Beat egg whites until stiff. Add sugar, one spoonful at a time. Add cornstarch and vinegar and count 20 beats. Cut an 8 inch circle from grease-proof paper and place in center of cookie sheet. Pile mixture onto circle. Cook in 275 degree oven on middle rack for 1 hour. Turn oven off. Leave in oven until cold. Just before ready to serve, top with a layer of fruit and a layer of Cool Whip or whipped cream. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
