GERMAN CABBAGE 
1 head of red cabbage, shredded
3 tbsp. water
4 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. onion, chopped
1 clove garlic (opt.)
Dash of cayenne
Dash of nutmeg
4 tbsp. vinegar
3 tbsp. sugar

Shred cabbage and let soak in cold water 20 minutes. Drain and place in saucepan and add water, butter, salt, onion, garlic, cayenne and nutmeg. Cook with cover 10 to 12 minutes (until tender). Add vinegar and sugar. Cook 5 minutes. Serve hot.
