GERMAN CABBAGE | |
1/2 lb. bacon 1 sm. head red cabbage 3/4 c. cider vinegar 3/4 c. brown sugar 1 tsp. salt (optional) 1 apple, peeled (Cortland or Mac.) Cut bacon in small pieces and fry. DON'T drain. Shred cabbage and apple. Add cabbage, apple, vinegar, brown sugar and salt to bacon. Simmer for about 1 hour or until tender. |
