RED VELVET CAKE 
1 c. Crisco
2 eggs
2 1/4 c. sifted cake flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt sifted with flour
1 tbsp. vinegar

Mix 4 bottles (1/4 cup) red food coloring with 3 tablespoons Nestle's Cocoa. Let this set while mixing other ingredients.

Beat hard the Crisco and sugar, then add eggs, one at a time, also the vanilla. Beat hard then add to cocoa and coloring. Alternate addition of flour and salt mixture with buttermilk. Then stir in one tablespoon cider vinegar and one teaspoon baking soda. Then beat hard. Bake in two 9-inch cake pans of loaf as preferred at 350 degrees for thirty minutes.

DECORATOR'S ICING:

I use for Red Velvet Cake.

1/2 c. butter
2 egg whites
1/2 c. Crisco
1 pkg. powdered sugar, sifted

Cream butter and Crisco. Add unbeaten egg whites. Beat hard, then add powdered sugar a little at a time.
