RED HOT POPCORN | |
1/3 c. butter 1 pkg. red hot candies 8 c. popcorn (air popper recommended), can substitute 2 packages microwave, natural flavor popped popcorn Preheat oven to 300 degrees. In a small saucepan, butter and red hots, and cook over low heat until mixture completely dissolves. Continue cooking until mixture is completely mixed, constantly stirring to prevent from burning. Mixture will look like hot lava, and can cause serious burns if not handled properly. In large bowl, using two spoons, lightly toss red hot mixture over popcorn. (Mixture will not evenly coat, and may clump). DO NOT TOUCH POPCORN WITH FINGERS. Place popcorn on 2 jelly roll pans, and bake in oven for 7 minutes, lightly loss and recoat popcorn. Continue baking for another 7 to 8 minutes. Let popcorn cool before removing from trays. Store in an airtight container. Will keep up to one week. |
