SWEET CUCUMBER PICKLE 
7 lb. cucumbers, thinly slice d 2 1/2 c. finishing lime mixed with 2 gal. water
5 lb. sugar
3 pt. vinegar
1 tsp. whole allspice
1 tsp. whole cloves
1 tsp. celery seeds
1 tsp. salt

Let cucumbers stand in lime water for 24 hours. Drain. Soak in clear water, changing water every hour for 4 hours. Mix sugar, vinegar and spices and bring to a boil. Pour over drained cucumbers and let stand overnight. Next day, boil cucumbers and syrup for 1 hour. Pack in sterilized jars and seal. Yields about 8 pints.
