BEEF PASTIES 
Crust:

1 1/2 c flour
1/4 c plus 2 tsp vegetable shortening
3/4 tsp salt
1 egg
water

Filling:

3/4 lb. ground beef
2 c diced potatoes
3/4 c diced carrots
3/4 c chopped onion
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 tbsp water

Put flour and salt in mixing bowl. Cut in shortening. Beat egg in measuring cup, add water to make 1/2 c. Add to flour and mix until moistened. Divide dough into 6 balls. On lightly floured board, roll balls into circles between layers of waxed paper. Set aside.

Mix meat vegetables, seasonings, and water. Put 1 c meat mixture on each circle crust, placing it toward one side.

Fold dough over and seal edges with a fork. Pierce top with fork. Place on baking sheet sprayed with Pam.

Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes or until lightly browned.
