BUCKAROONS 
2 c. flour
1 1/8 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 c. quick rolled oats
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Sift together flour, soda, salt, and baking powder. Cream together shortening, brown and white sugars and eggs. Combine all ingredients. Dough will be almost crumbly. Roll into balls or drop onto cookie sheet and bake for about 15 minutes at 350 degrees.

For a chewy cookie, bake until lightly brown. For a crisp cookie, bake a little longer. Chocolate chips and nuts may be omitted, or coconut may be substituted.
