1/2 c. sour cream
1 egg
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 qt. sweetened strawberries
1 c. whipping cream
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. broken walnuts
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda

Combine sour cream, shortening and egg. Beat until smooth; add nuts. Sift together dry ingredients and add to sour cream mixture; stir just until moistened. Drop by 1/3 cup portions onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 13 minutes. Split in half when cool. Whip cream with sugar until thick. Spoon berries over shortcakes and top with whipped cream.
