KENTUCKY HOT BROWNS | |
3 tbsp. butter 4 tbsp. flour 2 c. milk 1/2 lb. grated Cheddar cheese 4 slices toast (white or wheat) 4 slices turkey breast (or canned Hormel turkey) 4 slices fresh tomatoes (skin removed) Paprika 8 slices fried bacon Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Melt butter in saucepan over medium high heat; stir in flour and add milk, stirring until bubbly. Add cheese to mixture and stir until melted; remove from heat. Place 4 pieces of toast side by side in shallow baking dish. Spoon some of the cheese sauce over each piece. Then place 1 slice of turkey over each piece of toast. Pour the remaining cheese sauce over the turkey. Place a slice of tomato on top of stock and sprinkle with paprika. Top with moderately crumbled bacon and bake for 10 minutes. Serves 4. |
