GERMAN CHRISTMAS COOKIES 
6 c. flour
Rind and juice of 1 lemon
8 heaping tbsp. granulated sugar
4 egg whites and yolks
1 lb. unsalted sweet butter (I used Fleishmann's in green pack)

Cream butter and flour. Add sugar, egg yolks, lemon rind and juice. Cut mixture into 2 parts; roll out dough 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut with small cookie cutters. Spread with beaten egg whites, colored sugar and walnuts. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 7 to 8 minutes. Makes approximately 200 cookies.
