OVERNIGHT ORANGE ROLLS | |
1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. boiling water 1/2 c. cold water 1 egg 1/4 c. sugar 1 1/3 tsp. salt 1 pkg. yeast 3 1/2 c. flour Juice of 1 orange plus grated rind Stir together 1/2 cup shortening and 1/2 cup boiling water. Add 1/2 cup cold water. Beat 1 egg, 1/4 cup sugar and salt together and add to first mixture. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water and add to mix. Add flour and stir well. Place dough in refrigerator overnight. Remove next day and let stand until the chill is off. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick and spread with the grated rind and juice of orange and sprinkle with sugar. Roll up jelly roll style and slice. Place each slice in greased cupcake tins and let rise until light. Bake at 350 degrees about 20 minutes. |
