PUNCH COOKIES 
1/2 lb. butter
6 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 2/3 c. flour (1 3/4 c. if sifted)
Currant jelly or preserves
Powdered sugar

Have butter at room temperature, not too soft. Mix butter, sugar, vanilla and flour. Roll into balls. Flatten with small glass covered with damp cloth. Make dent in center and fill with jelly or preserves. Bake 12 to 15 minutes in 375 degrees. Remove cookies to racks, place on wax paper. Sprinkle with powdered sugar at once.
