2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 c. buttermilk
3 whole eggs
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
4 to 5 c. self rising flour, or enough to make soft dough

Mix sugar and butter, cream together. Add buttermilk, eggs, soda and vanilla. Add enough flour to make soft dough. roll out on floured cloth and cut. Bake at 350 degrees until light brown.
