GRANDMOTHER'S TEA CAKES | |
1 c. butter and lard 3 c. brown sugar 3 eggs 1 shallow tbsp. baking soda 3 c. or more flour, enough to make a soft dough 1 c. sour milk 1 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg Cream shortening and sugar, then beat in eggs one at a time. Mix soda and sour milk together. Add this alternately with the baking powder and flour which has been mixed together. Add flour to make dough stiff enough to roll. |
