DANDELION WINE | |
4 qts dandelion flowers 4 qts boiling water 1 cake yeast 3 lbs. granulated sugar 3 oranges, diced 3 lemons, diced Select fresh flowers and be sure all bitter stems are removed. Pour boiling water over the flowers and let stand for 3 days. Drain and add remaining ingredients. Let stand covered for 3 weeks at room temperature (70-75°F) until fermented. Strain into bottles and seal. When first bottled, place wad of cotton in bottle to be sure liquid has finished working. Takes at least 6 more months to mature. NOTE: We use a crock but be careful when boiling water is added to pour it slowly so as not to crack the crock. Keep covered with cloth as gnats are attracted. |
