NETTIE'S FRUIT CAKE 
3/4 c. butter, softened
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. applesauce, divided
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. pineapple tidbits, drained
2 c. raisins
2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. fruitcake mix
1 c. red candy cherries
1/2 c. flour

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, beating well. Sift the 2 1/2 cups of flour and spices together. Stir the 1 teaspoon baking soda into 1 cup applesauce. Blend remaining applesauce and pineapple together. Add the flour and applesauce blends to the creamed mixture alternately. Blend well after each addition.

Toss the raisins, nuts, fruitcake mix and cherries with the 1/2 cup flour and stir this into the batter. Pour batter into a greased and floured tube pan lined on the bottom with wax paper. Bake at 250 degrees for 2 hours or until done. Cool in the pan in an upright position 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Turn out to cool completely. Store in a closed container in the refrigerator or very cool place.
