PLUCKING BREAD | |
Dissolve 2 packages of yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup shortening in large mixing bowl. Add 1 teaspoon salt, 1 cup warm milk, 2 beaten eggs, and 4 cups flour. Blend all ingredients together and add yeast mixture. QUITE STICKY!!! Put on wax paper with flour and work dough until not sticky. Put in greased bowl and let rise until double. Then work dough slightly (sort of punch down) and pinch off in small bits of dough (golf ball size). Roll in mixture and place in greased bundt or angel food cake pan. IF any mixture is left, sprinkle on top. Bake at 350 degrees about 35-40 minutes until brown. Cool 5-10 minutes and turn out on plate. MIXTURE: Mix 1 1/4 cup sugar, 3 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/2 cup nuts. Add 1/2 cup melted butter (1 stick); mix together and roll balls of dough in it. |
